Joe Biden - a man who says what he means!

Joe Biden seems to be right on track for his 4 - 6 month stupid statement (many other candidates and political officials actually have faster frequencies, but we'll concentrate on Joe for now). Several months ago he made an "off the record" comment about Barack Obama. We let that go as a misunderstood quip.

Now, he wants us to believe that his comments about the education system in Washington, DC (abysmal and totally ineffective though it may be) were not racially motivated. Come on folks - the guys a lawyer, and a teacher of constitutional law. Wouldn't you think that an educated man of that calibre would say what he means and means what he says?

So Joe, do you say what you mean, or do you want us to believe that you are the loose tongued bumbling idiot that your handlers would have us believe? If you are saying what you mean then stand by it and stop back tracking. If you are a loose tongued bumbling idiot what would you say if you did miraculously wake up in the White House in January 2009?

Are we really promoting democracy?

Well America, I don't know about you, but I am tired of us wrangling with the vestiges of WWII. No, I am not talking about honoring our veterans and citizens who gave so much during that time.

I am talking about our continued interference in the internal affairs of other nations. This was necessary right after the war. It was important to help rebuild the war ravaged countries, but we must be honest, that was then, this is now. Is it necessary now? What would our reaction be if other nations tried to influence our internal affairs?

Our continued intervention, both overtly and covertly, in the internal affairs of other countries costs us billions, maybe trillions of dollars. We say it is in the name of democracy, but there are many countries in which we actually impede, disrupt, or outright stop the democratic process. We don't believe in democracy if the citizens of a sovereign state elect leadership that does not agree with us. Lately, it appears that we have decided to stop dialogue with those that do not see eye to eye with our elected leadership. Not talking - that always works when you're trying to settle differences doesn't it?

We are a sovereign nation whose first priority should be the health, welfare, and prosperity of its citizens. We can no longer continue to influence the world in the name of democracy. It is a farce when we do, and it makes a mockery of the democracy that Aristotle spoke of. The world recognizes it, but we, either through arrogance, indifference, ignorance, or God forbid - incompetence do not.

The world has changed, and we must change with it. I believe in the principles and values upon which our great nation was founded. I lived these principles as a Federal Academy grad and an officer in the USMC. I do not support the actions that we take today - allegedly in the name of these principles.

We are a weaker nation than we have ever been in most of our adult lives. Is this the world that we want to leave to our children? I can tell you that it is not the world that I wish to leave to mine.

Thanks,

Art
